'I first started piano lessons with Christina Jonas about two years ago. I'd always wanted to play piano and, at 26, I realised if I didn't start then I never would.  'Chriss' is very tuned in to individual learning styles and has been able to adapt her teaching methods to how I learn best.  She also takes a very holistic approach.  it's not just about hitting the right keys or achieving technical prowess - it's about gaining an appreciation of all aspects of playing music.

A couple of months ago, I let slip that I'd always wanted to sing as well as play piano.  I loved singing around the house - when everyone else was well out of earshot - but the idea of singing in front of anyone was absolutely terrifying.  After mumbling my way through our first lesson, sage advice from Chriss was all I needed to open up and put my inhibitions aside.

I've just learnt to sing and play one of my all-time favourite songs, which I recently performed at one of Pro Expression's regular concert recitals.  It's an incredible feeling and it's testament to the encouragement and support Chriss has given me.

"A few months since coming under Chriss’ wing I find myself dancing over the graves of stumbling blocks and challenges that had shrouded my singing for as long as I can remember.Not only has my vocal technique developed beyond any hope or expectation, but I myself as a singer and as a person have also matured and flourished under Chriss’ tuition.

There is no place for pussyfooting around in Chriss’ studio. As her flyer boldly states, lessons are intense… and intensely rewarding because of it. There were times early on when I felt pierced by a thousand nails or as asphyxiated as a rubber balloon in a vacuum. But these initial “shocks to the system” (partly soothed by five pages of notes in my singing diary whilst gorging on a three-course meal at Green’s café on Sydney rd) only cut so deep because they go straight to the heart of the matter, and once there they transform into the seeds of growth and true progress. I feel strengthened and inspired by her tuition.
