Some people convince themselves that they are ‘tone-deaf’ and are incapable of
EVER learning music – especially in learning singing. Pitch is all controlled by our breathing, posture and muscles. throughout the body (not just the throat!)
If you have a healthy mechanism - which means if you can speak - you can learn to sing! It's just requires someone to show you what to do and how; it's science! AND you will have a professional voice specialist by your side to teach you!
If we feel tired or stressed or ill or self-conscious about our body, it all comes through in our voice – even in our speaking voice. You will quickly learn effective warm-ups and specific techniques we teach you to feel instantly more refreshed and energised.
If we feel flat we tend to sound flat. If we feel energetic and inspired, our voice and volume lifts
and our confidence is boosted. This means that when you breathe much more openly rand with good posture you will no longer feel choked up and restricted when you speak or sing. Singing is the soul’s outlet!
Additionally, males are even less likely to sing due to our social upbringing in Western culture, traditionally linking it to a sign of weakness and/or femininity. (Ironically, in so many other cultures it is highly regarded and natural for people to sing as part of everyday life and family/community events).
Well, ‘pitch memory’ can indeed be learned, by a combination of boosting a person’s confidence in themselves, optimizing their breathing, by listening and developing correct vocal technique.
