The Consort of Melbourne - debut concert - Musica Viva 'Menage' concert series
The Consort of Melbourne is a new professional Melbourne-based group with a core membership of 4 to 8 singers, and an extended family of up to 16 singers, drawn from Australia’s finest young vocalists, offering stylish and well-informed performances to the highest international standard. The ensemble typically works as a consort rather than a choir – often one voice to a part, expanding its forces when required to perform larger scale choral works. It draws inspiration for its sound from the world's leading early music ensembles, a strong and focused tone that is ideal for the performance of a wide-range of vocal and choral music, equally suited to performances of music ranging from 13th Century motets to the present day, sacred and secular, classical and light, performing not only well-known repertoire but also exploring lesser known works.
Come hear Pro Expression's very own Artistic Director & Head Teacher Christina Jonas perform with this group in this special premiere performance!
The group’s program will explore notions of the sublime through 16th century music honouring the Virgin Mary, to that of now expressing earthly love. The unique ambience and atmosphere of Trinity College Chapel will be the perfect setting for this superb concert.
Tickets $30/$25, which include wine and cheese from 6:30 pm.
